Growing up in a little village in the south of the Netherlands, I have learned how to live as a true person, respecting others by doing the right thing. I believe the foundation of how we are raised plays a crucial role in every decision we take as a human being. Experiences we face in life are stored in our subconscious minds; it is home to our beliefs, emotions, habits, long-term memory, as well as imagination, and intuition. As a result, this is a subject that interests me greatly in the context of design.
Due to practicing creative activities since I was a little girl, I am blessed with seeing new insights when tackling a problem. I have learned through the great number of people in this profession that a designer should stand out with their own thoughts and ideas, and be original, which is therefore an objective I keep in mind when a challenge comes to my path. Due to my perfectionism, I have noticed I am willing to improve myself as many times as needed to realize my own visualized goal.
People around me would describe me as an observant person who rather takes all the information in, before taking conclusions too fast. Due to life-changing experiences in my youth, I have learned to look at problems from different angles, resulting in always keeping possibilities open. I believe it is through understanding that we allow ourselves to create changes in the most effective, moral, and radical way. My interest of researching subjects to the core brought the advantage of having the knowledge I have now and will take with me everywhere I go. Getting to know every detail about a subject, is in my opinion important for taking decisions in the further design process and is something I truly enjoy doing.
People or designs that inspire me have the aspect in common they are trying to make a positive impact in the world while at the same time, next to thinking outside of the box, have an altruistic mindset. Because I would classify myself as an introvert, I tend to sometimes over-analyze words that are said and steps taken during the design process. With the additional downsides of over-analyzing, I can certify this behavior in myself for the hunger of understanding the complete meaning of life.
